Firewood Chest
Firewood Chest
This is a miniature "mule chest" that Nick made from a single piece of firewood -- hence the name. In one of our videos, we had salvaged a walnut limb about 30 inches (762 mm) long and 7 inches (178 mm) in diameter, sawed it into lumber on a band saw, and ended up with about 4.5 board feet of mixed-grade walnut. Nick careful planned how to make something elegant and useful from just that little spit of wood, and this is the result. You don't have to make it from firewood, however. The other chest shown here was a spectacular piece of cherry shot through with sap pockets, left over from another project. If you have a special board you've been saving for something unique (but small), this might be just the ticket. 15 pages in digital PDF format, step-by-step instructions, detailed drawings and exploded views, dimensions in both English/Imperial and metric measurements.
